I am working on the man right now. Quite a lot of color in that person image. I think it will take me another week on him alone as I worked at this at my daugther Heather shoppe when I have some spare time as I do not have much to do for her at the moment.Every minutes counts when doing that kind of work. It can not be rushed even if you wanted to do so.

Snow abound
Skeleton trees
In the distance
Grey haze

Majestic birches
Standing watch
Over the snow bound
Vast land

Grey sky
Sign of more snow
Bare trees casting
Purple shadows

Eyes watching
But not seen
No foot steps
In the virgin snow

No sign of creatures
In the bare floor blanket
Of white snow
with a hint of purple shadow
Where the the small trees stand

Nevertheless one feels
A presence in the shadows
Of being watched
Of unknown being

Could it be
Some spirit
Of the past
Watching over the land ???

I received this needlepoint from my friend Kay, few years ago. I started to work on it last year.The title of this design is" The Angelus". Years ago when one heard the church bells ringing at twelve, specially in the country ones stop doing their works and prayed. When my sister was in a convent ,and I visited her in the summer, we always prayed at twelve noon (Angelus time).

here is another picture of my cockatiel. I manage to take one a bit closer this time. He knew I was trying to take a photo of him and he kept going back and forth. I fooled him a bit , I pretend to look somewhere else while talking to him and as he stood still ,I snap and voila a very good picture of him.

The night was very dark, not a cloud in the sky. Suddenly a candescent aura appear far away on the horizon above the distant hills, illumating the land.
Then it started to move very slowly , you could see the mouvement, coming nearer and nearer. The land was bare, nothing to see, no houses, no animals, just a big void.
As you watch this phenomina, you start to wonder what causes this candescent aura to appear so suddenly?
It was pitch dark one minute and the next, this big circle of light appear out of nowhere.
If you look closely you would swear that someone is pulling it across the sky, but how could this be? there is no one in sight, and surely it would have to be a giant to accomplish this feast.
No, there is no explanation to this extraordinary sight. you have to wait and see its development further. Surely something will come out of this or, it will dissapeared as quickly as it came.
There is a feeling that something else will happen. One has to wait with patience, with anticipation of what will be next.
All of sudden a funny sensation comes over you, there is an eerie feeling in the air, and something clicked in your mind as you recollect a tale that was told a long time ago... No surely not, it would be incroyable if this was to happens....
As you stare at the sky, suddenly, the candescent aura is beginning to change its shape, from a big circle, to a giant puff, like a big cotton ball. It is coming faster now, and, as you look, you expect it to explode in small pieces, but no. it is weaving all over the place as if someone is playing around, keeping you in suspense.....
Recalling the tale, you wait anxiously with your heart beating so fast, and hoping against hope that you will see what???
Yes,yes there they are the three witches, pointing with their fingers at the big puff of candescent, and laughing, laughing, dancing, dancing. They are moving it above in the sky like a giant toy. It is spinning so fast, it is breaking in small fragments, but strangely still remaining whole.
I am glad to know that these witches were the good ones. If they had been wicked, one wonders what would have happened............

what I am working on right now is a crochet scarf for later use this fall or winter. Heather ordered some beautiful wool earlier this year and when looking at it ,I thought it would make a beautiful scarf as the wool is very fine and lacy.It is multicolor wool so it is different than other ones,also work beautifully. I am very please with the result. This is a second scarf I made,the other one is variegated blue.

The very back petals were done like a satin stitches to my eyes but then I try very hard a the direction given with the design, and the small petal on the right and the larger petal right in the front were more like thread painting .whew!

I started this embroidery few months ago, but I also wanted to work on my black and white cross stitch, so I put this one aside. About four weeks ago I had a very bad cold which lasted a bit over a week, but when I started to feel a bit better, I though I should work on this piece as it was not hard on my eyes as the cross stich one. I finished it Monday and framed it the next day, so today I though, I put it on my blog, so anyone who does embroidery can see it.

knitted socks

I finished these socks last week. I was going to keep them for myself but changed my mind today. Show them to Heather and told her she could have them if she wanted, as I started another pair for myself with different wool and is a bit heavier as well.

I thought maybe I would have a bit of problem with the heels as it has been years since I knitted socks, but it all came back, no trouble at all. Very please with them.

I like books..All kind of books. Beside reading books, I sure like "journal books". The other day I was looking at my shelves were I keep these books. I took them down and started to look at all of them. Some, brand new I never used yet ,some I wrote some of my poetry ,one I keep and write down what I have or want to do, others because I like the cover and could not resist to buy them, yep I sure like books. I will put some more on my blog as I did not take photos of all of them. The first one I got it from someone I worked for years ago. The second my friend Kay gave me that a couples years ago and the third one I bought when I was out because I like the color and velvet cover. I thought I put a couple piece of jewelry, the bracelet I bought with money I received from daughter Theresa and the necklace with pendant I made myself. Nifty eh. eh.eh.

A bit more on my cross stitch. You can see the design on this side of the picture and now I have to work on the other side which will be a long process again. I have decided to put it aside for a little while as I found it hard on my eyes,and do something else. What I really want to work at is knitting some fancy socks. My Friend Kay gave me a pair a couple years ago and another pair for Chritmas last year as well a pair for Heather. The wool she used is kind of special as it does the design while you knit. The wool is specially made for that. I ask Kay where she gets that wool and she said her daughter got it for her. As she still had some I ask her if I could buy some, and she gave me a couple balls to use. It has been years since I knitted socks and hopefully I will be able to do them again, the heels are the hardest to do. Anyway with luck I should be able to knit a pair. Kay is coming back from her visit to her son in the state and I will see her Monday. If I have trouble she will help me. When they are done I will post them on my blog.

here is my other new bag, I said I was making. I finished it this week. As I had quite a few assortment of fat quarters, I thought I should use some to make a bag. I did like the black and white ones and of course my favorite color,lilac and purple which went very well with the white and black squares. As the bag was rather plain ,I added a nice pin. I very seldom wear it ,so I think it give the bag a softer touch.

A new hanbag. I just finish yesterday this handbag. I looked on the internet for new designs on tote or bags. I saw one similar to this one and though it was a bit different. I had already got all the pieces pins, so reworked it to insert this picture that I had in my files of pictures. I think it is nice and the look is good. It is quite a bit larger than other bags I made. I have another one ready to sew which I will be doing in the next few days.

We were visiting my sister who is in a retirement home in Quebec, and after leaving her we went to the large shopping mall there and Theresa said there was an english book store, and of course we had to see it and this is where I found these books which were not at airport store,and is of that same author.

Here are some new books that I purchase while I was traveling to visit my daughter Theresa in Quebec. My daughter Heather and I had decided quite few months ago to make a trip to Quebec to visit Theresa and family, also my sister Florida who is retired in a Residence .

While in Winnipeg airport waiting for our plane, we visited the book store, Heather and I love reading and as we cannot always get all the new books that does come out, was a good opportunity for us to see what was new in the reading world. After looking at all the books there,I went around a second time and looked at the names of some new authors and came upon this one, and reading what he wrote in the back cover, I decided to buy few. It is very different of what I had been reading and I thought it would be a great change to have something new and knowing I would not be able to procure them here in Flin Flon. It was also a good way to get some new authors that I did not know about.

I must also say that Theresa is also an avid reader as well her girls Linda and Susan. I guess it is in the family.

Another of my painting. This one was painted when my friend Begona was here with her husband who was a dentist and came to work for Dr.Crozier. Begona was a very talented person. She show me how to add person or animal in my painting, but unfortunateley I was not a very good drawer like her . She could draw anything she wanted. Of course she studied art. Here is another handbag I made along with the other one. With this material, not having too much of it I though I should make a smaller handbag which I will use when not having to carry a lot of stuff with me. Sometime all I need to have with me is my wallet and change purse and a couple more things. It is ideal for that.

all the squares I was working on and put a couple on my blog are finished. At the time I put a couple pictures to show what I was working on, I had only a couple to finished. Lots of work to do the embroidery and also to put them together. I had to decide what color the material should be and I opt for red , as all the butterflies were more or less in pastel.

here is another small color painting. Done this one only two weeks ago. I felt like painting,but did'nt want to do a large one or use acrylic,hence this one, done with color pencils, as it does clean work,no mess, nothing. It is a very plain landscape. I will have to practice doing foliage on the trees, which I find quite difficult.

Another of my older painting. I done this one quite a long time ago. As a matter of fact, when I joined the Art Club I use acrylic paint as it was what the members were using. I just started to paint awhile before and done a couple in oil, I had never painted before in my life. I wanted to do something different beside embroidery, ect, painting appealed to me and I gave it a go. I am self-taught,and this was my third one, a bit larger than the other ones. One can tell I was a beginner

This is a very very small quilt, done for a very small doll, or can be use as a small pillow top. It is white on white and I added a lace applique in the center so it will give it a look of luxury.

And this one the top. Theresa , Do you remember the picture there?...When I visited you few years ago, you took me to this store and when I saw this frame with that picture,I like it a lot and knowing I would never get one like it here.I bought it . I think the store is not there anymore.

This is a small square cloth with embroidery and quilted that I made a couple years ago for my side table in my bedroom. I had done four squares with the heart, and I really did not know what to do with it but I really like the design so I went ahead and work it and then put it away. One day it came to mind that I could use it for the bedroom table and decided to do a small square and quilted as well. This picture show the bottom of it.

Another embroidered cushion. I done this one a couple years ago when my friend Kay wanted to do something different than quilting ,cross stitch, knitting. She wanted to do embroidery,maybe needlepoint ,and could I worked with her on these. The firs thing she done was a needlepoint with a little bit of help,it did not take long before she could do it on her own. Then we decided to do an wool embroidery cushion. The design was not too hard,and turn out very nice.

This is a mini quilt I done few years ago. I done it for my doll. I have done two more mini ones. It is as much work as a medium size one. All the cutting and putting it together takes time and when finished looks very nice.

Another cushion

I had done this embroidery a couple years ago. Unfortunetly I put it away with some other things and could not find it. In the last few days ,when Heather was here we were looking at some material I have( a lot) and behold there was my embroidery among some of the self color fabric. Was I glad to find it. So yesterday I sewed it together and put it in a pillow form and (voila) another finished cushion with my initial again. I used silk embroidery thread for the flowers and metallic thread for my initial in my favorite color purple. It turned out very nifty I think.
